Class dismissed: There’s a fair few things happening in this page. Firstly we have Dane – a member of Faculty first seen in an unnamed cameo back on page 1.19 with a follow up sequence co-hosting the Understanding Terran Cultures Support Group on pages 5.12-15. He is also an extra-terrestrial and the Academy’s pre-eminent expert on life forms beyond Earth. Other than that, and the fact he is alien from the planet Haaj, he has no special powers and has never gone into superheroing… one of the few Faculty heads not to do so.
He mentions Force Magellan making first contact with Tros’ people, the Mlabbic, this was first seen in the History on page 7.
Finally, most of Year 2! These cadets were largely introduced (as Year 1 cadets) in Brelvis & Olga, and have since had various follow up appearances in Lock(e)down and The Olaf Mystery.

Second year cadets: We have seen the powers of a number of these cadets in previous pages. Here’s a breakdown for those seen above…
- Olga: telepathy/mind stuff
- Brelvis: uh, dog stuff?
- Ornuk: shape-shifter
- Sun: magnetic manipulation
- Yasmeen: witch
- Kyunda: self-multiplication through division
- Ravi: avatar for Shakti, goddess of women (whatever that entails!)
- Jai-Jai: pixie magic
- Svetlana: insect mind control (talks to bugs!!)
- Isina: able to grow in height (length, not so much size)
- Jaxine: big purple wings… can fly!
- MoMo: alien with laser blast eyes (all six of them)
- Dylan: has a wylding form
- Olaf: reanimation (?), healing (??), other weird stuff
- Woz, Verne, Simon, Yoko, Buddy, George, Leigh: unknown…
Of the other cadets, not seen above:
- JJ: negative energy
- Lee: Chinese Lantern in training
- Maria: light emission
- Matt: sub-zero temperature control

Given the current story, it may be rather redundant. It may even happen that whatever is currently in the textbook will soon be replaced by what we are currently reading!

The Force Magellan & Sex Pistols team up was a mistake from the word go.
Seeing Isina there in the background of the last panel reminds me of a passage in the Bible: (Matthew 6:27, similar in Luke 12:25) “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” None of us, but Isina certainly can.
I was thinking about Isina also. This is her ‘resting’ height? How tall is she normally?
Yes, that’s her resting height. She’s about seven foot (2.13 metres) tall.
Could she shrink down to something like 6 feet, while remaining the same weight, which I would be about 240 lbs.
Nope, only way is up!
Huh… I had been guessing her to be much taller, but I’ve been comparing her to mostly other underclassmen, who probably haven’t reached their full growth themselves. I wonder if her power will become more like the standard comic-book ‘growth’ power exhibited by Giant-Man or Colossal Boy as she matures?
I don’t think so, for her it’s a form of bone growth combined with incredible muscular, ligament and internal organ elasticity. Sort of like if Mr Fantastic or Plastic Man had solid skeletons that grew as they stretched…
Also, yes, the other cadets, especially in year one, are not yet at maximum height. Mind you, I’m tall at six foot and would still find a seven foot person to be crazy tall if they stood next to me!!
Look at how grown-up these cadets seem now! I feel proud of them.
Well, this first contact won’t literally go to shit. The Rarrgg seem to hew closer to the Sword of the Stars trailer.
They didn’t want us as friends.
They didn’t want us as enemies.
They didn’t even want us as food.
They just wanted our planet.
We said no.
(Okay, I guess the Rarrgg didn’t actually want the planet either. Just a good view of Venus.)
Well technically they do want the planet, just not in one piece.
