The thought of one bratty Charisma is bad enough… but several? An infinite number? We already know there are alternate timelines from the Bad Karma storyline where one was born (namely this one). Anyway, it occured to me that healers had to use vitality to heal people, where better to take it from than across the multiverse?

I could easily see persons with time-based powers not having alters. Ambrosia, for example, could be moving between alternate realities when she uses her power.
That doesn’t mean she doesn’t HAVE them, quite the contrary. She would just use one up every move.
Meanwhile, people like Jenny Everywhere could effectively be healed infinitely.
So healing Jenny Everywhere should be really easy for him.
Now that’s an alternate take on healing powers in the superhero business 🙂
… and not to be “that one” and not knowing the precise Scandinavian origin of Edderkoppen, but at least in Danish “Edderkoppen” would be a rough translation of “The Spider”, so talking directly to him you would probably say “Spider”, or “Edderkop” (singular)
But in all fairness, I would think most people might not know that.
I was thinking if one was an English speaker, they might make that mistake, but it was the German man who made the mistake. Less understandability there. Unless Edderkoppen is as insistent about the article being there as the Man Who Can.
Most germans would have no idea about that as danish is not a common language to learn in germany. It is a bit mor common in ther north as there is a minority of danish speaking germmans of roughly 100 thousand people. Most of which are located in Schleswig-Holstein which was under danish control until 1864.
And I might add that as a native german it sound always odd to me when characters are named hans. For some reason is one of the two default names for male germans in english fiction (Fritz being the other). It is not a very common name in germany these days. It is an abbreviation of “Johannes” (John) and the only people I know to go by hans are in their 60s or 70s.

I was originally going to have him say “Koppy” but that seemed like an informal thing an English speaker might say. I decided to go for the formal full name since that is what he calls himself anyway.
Fair’s fair, I’m not going to argue with a superhero about what he calls himself XD
… and yeah, an Englishspeaker would probably go with the full name, just to be on the safe side 😀
Eh, it’s a name. A guy who speaks English with spider-powers might still choose the name ‘Arachno’ instead of ‘Spider-Man’, because he likes the sound better. If he likes ‘Edderkopppen’, people should call him that.

That’s an idea. Hans didn’t seem to think so, but perhaps that was a product of his caution.
This seems potentially highly dangerous/unethical. For all they know they could be getting those other alternates killed by making them feel “a bit shit” mid-combat or in some other dangerous situation.
The important question is how is he choosing which alters to drain, and how many does he drain. It’s likely that usually he is draining so little it can’t be a problem and only this time when he “pushed beying ideal” there is real risk, and is still small.

Interesting. Hans’ powers can have catastrophic consequences. If he were to make an alternate weary at the wrong moment, it could alter the flow of events in that timeline
That sounds like a great story line about an alternate going after Hans to get revenge for the death of people that he unwittingly did cause.

The revelation that there are more Magellan timelines than the two established ones makes one wonder…. hm… Al has said previously that MM gave Rochelle the signal device back when the two main timelines were still one, therefore MM is mentor to both Rochelles as either has the means to call her. In theory, this applies to any number of other Rochelles if their timelines split off from the main two after the right point. But it also means that Rochelles from branches that split off too early do not have the benefit of MM’s tutelage. (Deferring to Al of course)
Also, it would seem that only current timeline had Esteban Frio… well, the prime timeline must have too, but for whatever reason, the Doppelgängers didn’t approach him. Or perhaps he had turned over a new leaf and was thus trapped with the “good” doppelgängers who refused to jump on Presideath’s bandwagon.
Definitely deferring to Al on that point regarding MindMistress. 🙃
Interesting thought, will she feel the affects of the healing post reset? At that point she’d be an alternate Charisma relative to this moment, even if she remembers the event…
Has Edderkoppen grown a fifth leg there? Or is the bonus middle one a mis-painted leg belonging to Der Rote Verteidiger?

I suspect he’s not draining any specific Charisma. That would require a powerful level of cosmic awareness that by itself would be more effective than his healing ability.
It’s probably more like a variation of the effect from the movie “The One”. The healing drain gets spread out among all the alternate versions of a person. The reason a few of them would feel shit is because of the near fatal levels of the injuries.
Physical therapy and rehab are stressful even you’re NOT a super-powered narcissist. I don’t envy Charisma’s rehab staff. OTOH, maybe she can actually gain another increment of empathy… maaayybeee… ?
People keep hoping that Charisma will become more empathetic, and be nice to Kaycee. My arguments against this are twofold:
1) Charisma has already become more empathetic towards everyone, since the events in Lock(e)down, and it has actually made Charisma double down on her mean behavior. This is a woman with a deep-seated need to keep others at a distance, and knowing that others know how she feels really bothers her.
2) Consider what would have happened here if Charisma were being nice to Kaycee. They both would have fallen from that height. Kaycee would have died instantly, and without her to help out, Charisma would have bled out internally (not sure if correct medical term).
So yeah, screw Charisma getting more empathetic. If she wants to open up at some future point, she’ll do it when she’s good and ready, and she’ll do it her way. She doesn’t need friends, she’s got a shrink.
LoL. Edderkoppen still has 5 legs (9 total limbs). Ah well. I’m sure nobody will notice XD
