Short hiatus: Dear valued Magellan readers, I’m sorry to say I need to take a short break from production. It’s pretty obvious I’ve been struggling with the schedule – and personally I hate that. Rather than screwing you around with late and missed updates I think it’s better I take a short break and get back up to steam.Magellan will return Wednesday May 22 – hope to see you then! Next update Saturday 27 April: I was delayed by needing to work on the latest Crossoverkill page (featuring Hoodoo) and also Iron Man 3… damn you Tony Stark!! (Great movie though.) So apologies, yet another delay, but only a day this time.

Brainspike is on a tour through the minds of Bunyip, Spongeface, Malice and… Brelvis! For those that came in late, or read too many other webcomics to remember…

Brelvis Lonsdog: a blended lifeform comprising Brian Lonsdale and his pet dog Elvis, see sequence starting page 1.06… Brelvis is now a first year cadet at Magellan Academy.
Spongeface: a blended lifeform comprising George Lonsdale and Vesuvian Sponge Amoeba DNA. George is father of Brian, and also the inventor of the genetic blender… he was introduced on page 1.59, seen again in page 2.66 and featured in Chapter 5, first appearing on page 5.26. He was experimenting on himself, genetically blending himself with exotic (alien) DNA rather than living lifeforms, so his transmutation remained somewhat hidden until he was murdered by Grey/Bunyip and reanimated… ultimately allowing the transmutation to take hold. Now called Spongeface, he is considered completely insane but extremely dangerous!
Bunyip: a blended lifeform comprising cannibal* murderer Grey Little, a saltwater crocodile, Tasmanian Devil and some exotic (alien) DNA – created as part of illegal genetic blending experimentation carried out by George Lonsdale. First introduced on page 5.02, his defining features are brute strength, violence and hunger for flesh! See page 5.100 for a description from Lonsdale Snr of Bunyip’s component lifeforms… and page 5.126 for a pic of Grey Little pre-transmutation. BTW, a Bunyip is a mythical creature from Australian Aboriginal folklore… Kaycee first used the term to describe him during the course of Chapter 5.

Malice: a blended lifeform comprising Alice Mann, 50 spiders and Forn (extradimensional) DNA – created as part of illegal genetic blending experimentation carried out by George Lonsdale. First introduced on page 5.02, her abilities include mind control venom and sticky web shooting! The multitude of lifeforms that form Malice has resulted in a hive consciousness. See page 5.102 for a description from Lonsdale Snr of that… and page 5.126 for a pic of Alice Mann pre-transmutation.

Brainspike is on a tour through the minds of Bunyip, Spongeface, Malice and… Brelvis! For those that came in late, or read too many other webcomics to remember…

Back to the originals! I know this seems like silly time wasting on Sioni’s part (and it IS) but it does also serve a purpose from a narrative point of view (at least, I think it does) and that is to explain why the cadets are able to appear with costumes or only with cadet uniforms.Rather than doing it with boring exposition I chose to do it with some hopefully humorous digression instead!
