I did warn you not to eat when reading this one! OK, Montana-Rose… probably not stress. Rosie was last seen visiting Dr Chandra here… and Jemima last seen in this sequence…
This looks like a job for Exterminator Man!
ya, just the stress of confronting your fear of being alive since you once were, while your sister was brutally murdered. wait no that’s someone else, perhaps it isn’t stress?
So we can all assume she’s been ‘bugged’ somehow? (insert badum tsh)
Ooooh… I’d almost forgotten about this.
It’s a small thread but expect to see more again soon! There are quite a few threads in this chapter… I guess it wouldn’t be a Magellan story if there wasn’t!
I’m sure it will become very significant very soon. What did she bring in when reaching out to her friend…? Time -and your good self- will tell.
Hrm… a bit random, but is witchcraft in Magellanverse something learned, or inborn?
Anyone can learn a spell, as to how well they can use it is another matter. The spell is powered by the ability of the caster to direct the required energies into the incantation. The ability to direct those energies are innate in everyone but only a small number are actually able to access the energies properly, even fewer are able to wield them powerfully. Remember that Rochelle tried to used magics against Lyta, with mixed results.
freddy krueger is going after you! damn. horrible to get that kind of nightmares. *shudders*
Are they ever going to have a field trip end well?
All signs point to “no”!
They’re superheroes-in-training. No matter what victories they achieve, they’re not even going to be able to go to the corner store for a packet of mints without a chance of something going completely pear-shaped. ^^
This is true!
Hm… Montana-Rose as she is now, going to the place where a horror-revealing psychic is…. interesting…
Since this whole thing’s about Locke Island… I keep wondering, did Miasma get taken there in the alternate reality? Of course I’d understand if you weren’t quite willing to reveal that yet…
Highly likely, it would probably be the on facility capable of safely containing her.
Do the heros get summer/winter vacations, or is Magellan a year-round school?
That’s actually something I’ve struggled with for a while – on one hand they can’t run them into the ground, it’s a six year program and to cut them off from their old lives and connections would probably be counter productive. On the other hand any breaks they do take would be short – certainly nothing as luxurious as summer break – they main reason there’d be a risk of them falling out of training and fitness levels – plus also an increased risk of them being attacked. At the start of chapter 1, Kaycee is shown traveling to Magellan Island with a number of fourth and fifth year cadets – the implication was that they were all returning to Magellan for the start of the Academic year. So I’d say they’d had a short two week break, they would be a few other one week breaks throughout the year but they might not all be taken at the same time by all cadets and all years.
And no doubt some flying students would go home for the afternoon every now and then, whether or not they were supposed to (Charisma, I’m looking at you).
maybe it is part of the training at later years, maybe after the 2nd year or so you get to spend sometime off at home, having to check in regularly, and having the local magellan force give you surprise visits and having you do tasks while in costume. sort of a live exercise for handling a secret identity. so technically it isn’t exactly a vacation, but in reality it is one, though you can’t let things like fitness slide. as for those that can’t go home for what ever reason, they can be given a place to stay that conforms to their secret identity that they are trying to build. that way someone doesn’t just go off to super hero training, and then show up in the civilian world 6 years later.
I like that thinking!
