Page 13 of Legacy is now up and you can read it by voting for Magellan at Top Webcomics… Nadine makes a very important decision! Voting helps to raise the profile of Magellan and bring in more readers.
Here’s an overview of the Golden Age superhero The Streaker, whose legacy plays a major part in this story. And here’s an overview of some of the other speedsters in the Magellanverse… which should be particularly useful with this update.
I should add that voting will also give you access to all the pages you may have missed so far!
As you might suspect, this story will include depictions of nudity from time to time – nothing gratuitous, but if that sort of thing isn’t your thing then I’ll understand if you don’t want to vote!
and the club still thinks she’s more mature than Zac? That’s saying something!
Ha! I know!!
You should read up on Zac again. Compared to him, most babies are mature.
It’s also possible that Nadine’s response so far has been:
a) typical of other new members
b) less extreme than other new members
c) an amusing experience for the Fast Club
I’m gonna wager on C, since I doubt they’d be so socially blind as to not foresee these kinds of reactions regularly.
“C” is given, but I wouldn’t be surprised if most new members provide amusing experience for the Fast Club on joining.
I’d say it’s a mix of all three. Yeah, they probably foresee the “typical” reaction but the fact that it is typical does mean Nadine isn’t unique by any means.
Also Greyhound seems completely chill with being called a naked weirdo, so he’s probably used to it and/or has heard worse from new recruits.
I’ll wager
d) all of the above
They knew which buttons to push… Sneaky.
I’m still not convinced about the rule requiring the club to bring in someone. However, I am convinced that they really want Nadine to join. Marvellous! (For the chronically spelling-vigilant like myself, I write that with two l:s because I’m from Europe and Greyhound says it with a single l because he’s from the US.)
… yyeeaaah… I think someone’s being played right now. They went to plan b) to convince her.
I’ve been wondering, Grace… in some comics, flying bricks are technically C-list speedsters themselves, able to keep up with “real” speedsters on foot up to a point, and able to surpass them when flying. How fast are, say, Epoch and Billie when compared to Greyhound and Nadine—and even compared to an aged speedster like Glimmer? Does flying be running make a difference for the bricks in terms of speed?
From the Fast Club’s point of view, it is land based speed only. However, Epoch might be one of the only flying bricks that would come close to being extremely fast and a land “speedster”.
Actually though, in a very early version of this story… it was Charisma boasting about being accepted into a “Flight Club” and, not only rubbing it in with all and sundry, but also wondering out loud if she should also try for the Fast Club that motivated Nadine. As you can see, I didn’t go down that twisted path! Zac Breen became a much more appropriate foil to Nadine’s indignation.
“We have no choice”? That new member every two years rule is really really weird. Is it not something one of the current members invented? Can’t the Fast Club change their own rules? What awful thing might happen if they broke that rule? Is the synergy itself somehow both a blessing and a curse?
That… and many other questions… might never be answered in this story! 😉 Stay tuned!
Nadine finally caved in..?!?
