As much as I’ve enjoyed working on this mindscape underwater sequence I’m rather glad that it has now come to an end… these pages have taken a huge amount of time, certainly they have have been more colour and detail intensive than the average Magellan page. As you may guess from today’s update we reenter reality from next week.

So is that how it really went down? Fatima killed the Queen who killed her parents?
We haven’t seen the “true story” yet – but in the same way that Maverick didn’t confront Kaycee’s kidnapper (in reality Kaycee was rescued by Go!Anna), so you can presume things went down a bit differently for Fatima in reality (although, yes, her parents were murdered as shown)
good to see you’re back, though i hope it isn’t too soon, nothing like re-injuries.
well this is one way to fight your inner demons, hopefully this will help fatima out.
hand = so far, so good! Acupuncture really seems to be helping.
you really need to start another comic: kaycee, olga, and fatima – undersea swashbucklers!
ha! Well I have been wanting to get Kaycee into a bit of PherNian action for a long while now, although of course she wouldn’t have been transformed into a PherNian herself in that kind of story. We may very well revisit Fatima’s people one day via a voting incentive story.
great page
You know, this is random, but I just realized that, given that she can see just fine in the deep dark nearly-lightless sea, Fatima can probably see better at nighttime above ground than humans, huh? That could come in very handy. She would probably also be fine in caves.
This is true, and it would be a lot murkier down there in the depths, although I have throughout this sequence also craftily included phosphorescent/glowy light sources for some illumination. PherNian eyes are all black and there’s a reason for that, and I certainly like your seeing well in the dark concept for Fatima.
Slap that witch! Give the Queen a switch! (insert Devo tune here)
Please note that no actual witches, Queen or otherwise, were harmed in the making of this comic…
Not this sequence anyway… I’m sure someone’s gonna get hurt before the stories over though!
I just realized the queen called her Lady Fatima. Does that mean she’s actually PherNian nobility? Or is that just a translation/cultural quirk?
No, she is (was) nobility…
