Sleeping Arrangements
What better way to kick off a Magellan mini-series than to deal with the awkward question of who will be sleeping where in a co-ed dorm?

This strip does, in a small way, pay homage to the similar scene in Magellan: Wannabe when Kaycee and Nadine arrive at their dorm and sort out their respective bunks and fellow bunkees. As we see later in the main comic, Olga is struggling to come to terms with co-ed living... or in fact any form of shared/group living arrangements. Brelvis who is 50% canine is much more "pack" oriented and is therefiore able to slot in more easily. I had originally imagined it would be the other way around but then realised that Olga, being more mature (with a mental age of around 32... from 1972) would be out of her depth amongst a group of 21st century teens!

Two new cadets are introduced...

  • Sun Moon: dna+; powers of magnetism; Korea (NB there was but is no longer a North/South split of Korea in the Magellanverse)
  • Ornuk Mf: Gnorn Troll (alternate dimension); power of shape shifting
[See History 3 for the first appearance/depiction of a Gnorn Troll]

Don't ask me what Ornuk's farting and burping is about. I remembered the Slitheen from Dr Who after I added this feature to Ornuk but there's every chance they subliminally influenced me! As noted above, Ornuk's people were featured in the main comic so his appearance here was only a matter of time!

Both Sun and Ornuk have had small roles in the main comic so far.
