Another great piece of fan-art from Chris V who supplied last month’s Captain Victoria. This time it features Victory-Man teaming up alongside Chris’ character Victory as the beat the circuits out of a swarm of robots… just an average day at the office for super heroes. It’s a fantatstic piece of art – please check it out!
It’s been so long since I’ve received fan art I was pretty surprised and excited to find this latest piece from reader Chris V in my email today. It features none other than Captain Victoria the recently disgraced flying powerhouse member of Oz Magellan. Will she ever be able to clear her name – well if having her own piece of fan art can’t get her in the good books then nothing can! Would this be a good opportunity to remind everyone that I love getting fan art… becasue I do!
Thanks Chris… please check it out.
Hey!! It’s been a while since I last posted to the blog – it hasn’t been due to lack of interest, more a lack of time. Tonight is the first time in ages where I actually feel like I have a bit of spare time and am “on top of things”… don’t know how long it will last. I just tallied up how long it has been since I got this site underway and restarted the stalled storyline that I’m still working my way through… 8 months (give or take a week)! Although I think I had hoped I would have finished Chapter 5 by now, at mostly only one update a week it has way taken way longer than expected that’s for sure. Sometimes I can’t believe I turned out three pages a week during the Bad Karma storyline. How was that even possible?? Anyway, apart from a couple of recent hiccups I think I should now be able to turn in two pages a week from here until the end of Worst Fieldtrip… expected to be at page 5.130. Sixteen pages at two a week still equals eight weeks or two months… but at least it’ll wrap before the end of 2011! And then it’s on to new adventures.
One of the primary reasons for the time crunch this year (other than, y’know, all the other reasons) has been my involvement in Crossoverkill – the crossover epic between Hoodoo from Magellan and heroes from other webcomics (such as Mindmistress, Fusion, Energize, Captain Perfect and Yuuki). Now don’t get me wrong, working on this project has been a blast! A mega blast!! I’ve pushed myself on this in ways I haven’t previously on any project and working with other highly talented cartoonists has made me lift my game big time – all of which will have a positive flow on effect for Magellan. It’s hard to share my ongoing development on the project work via the blog since to do so could result in spoilers but I’ll see what I can do to rememdy that. I hope you are actually reading Crossoverkill – even if you don’t know who the other characters are I think you’ll have a pretty good idea by the time you read through the almost 100 pages already online. Please make sure you check it out!
It might have become obvious to a few of you that I’ve been slowly trying to consolidate all of the Magellan material that has been created (by myself and others) into a single place. Over the years that material has been spread over a number of sites – Comic Genesis, Graphic Smash, xmung.com and elsewhere – which makes it difficult for readers to find and enjoy it all. So yes, “consolidation” is a key work for 2011!
The latest pieces of content to be collected here under magellanverse.com is the two pieces of fan fiction (written by mheatwole and Pascal Rassi respectively) and also something by myself in the form of Charisma Epoch’s Twitter tweets! You may have already seen the two short stories elsewhere but you’ll find that Pascal’s piece in particular has been reformatted to provide an easier reading experience.
Charisma’s tweets, from early 2009, have been totally reformatted (to read from first to last, unlike in Twitter) and also include artwork you may not have seen if you never checked out her account while it was updating. Her story is essentially Magellan canon… I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy it! Feedback and comments welcome. Check out Magellan Fan-fiction!
Just a heads up that the Wednesday update is running a day behind schedule. In part that was because I was away interstate earlier this week (for my real job!) and lost a vital drawing day. In the interest of full disclosure (and so that I don’t sound like a total slacker) it was also because I became a bit too engrossed over the last weekend in my work on the next set of pages I’m drawing for Crossoverkill… plus I’ve been working on a couple of other feature additions to this site which have been chewing up a lot of time. Anyway, page 5.100 hits the interwebs on Thursday this week! Woo!
