The title of this post might be a little misleading… or perhaps somewhat double edged. Firstly, I was made redundant this week! Yeah, that’s not really the good news – although I did have the option to apply for a new position I wasn’t interested in it or working there anymore (after almost 16 years) so said “show me the money, I’m outta here.” I was in the market for another job anyway. And still am.
The good news, at least for Magellan, is that I will have a lot more creative time on my hands until I get re-employed, or my payout dries up and I have to sell an organ or two, whichever comes first.
I’m quite excited by the creative opportunity that this is offering – I’ve already drafted five pages ahead and plotted a further ten pages ahead. Given that six months ago I was lucky to be plotting, drafting, drawing and finishing a page on the day it was due this is a nice change of pace – one I’m hoping to capitalise on.
Believe it or not I’m hoping to increase the update schedule from one to two per week, then possibly increase it further. From next week I’ll also be restarting the Dr Spooky & Otto story so it can have the dignity of finishing with its final four pages… plus I have plans for another short story featuring Go!Anna to follow that.
It’s amazing how much more productive I can be when I’m not being ground into the dirt by a stressful full time job I was hating. Of course if I don’t start making another form of income in the next few months even a stressful, hateful job will be preferable to being ground into the dirt by poverty and destitution!
Keep an eye out for announcements on schedules from next Sunday’s update!
