On this day 11 years ago – March 7, 2004 – I uploaded the very first page of Magellan. Back in those days I started by hosting it on Keenspace, within a few months Magellan was picked up by Graphic Smash… which gave it quite a bit of kudos. I never quite expected the comic would be so well received, let alone the fact that it would last for so long!
And yet here we are eleven years later… in our timeframe that is, we haven’t even covered two full years of Magellan time. Ooops! I expect the pace will pick up before the comic turns 12 – when the current story finishes in about 70 (or so) pages we’ll be jumping forward to year three.
And I want to to tell more cannon Magellan stories too. My intention is to use the voting incentive space to run shorter pieces that either look at past stories (1930s through 1990s) or origins (similar to the Gifford story from several years back) or other concurrent tales (like the Redux story featuring Gola/Olga and the current Dr Spooky & Otto adventure).
I’m also planning to get the books ready for POD publishing and eBook publishing, not sure how that will go but we’ll see where that takes us.
In other words, I’m working on some great stories and other stuff.
So yeah, Happy Birthday, Magellan! Woot!! I love writing and drawing this comic & hope you will enjoy reading it for many years into the future.
