Well that’s interesting. Olga/Gola is obviously familiar with those ropes of light/consciousness. But when she becomes “Olga” again, she forgets. She SHOULD have all her memories up to the age of 35, I’d certainly think the 35-year old Gola would know what those were. Maybe it’s because she’s dazed from the shock of her “death”?
Woah. So if im reading this right, Gola/Olga has some sorta split personality/identity crisis where she literally sees Olga and Gola as different people and is having memory troubles because of it?
Hmm…I wonder if this has something to do with her memory gap after 35…
The odd daze of not remembering something as Olga that she apparently knew as Gola…Id almost think Gola persona had all of her memories and Olga had only up to 35 except for the whole ‘have you seen magellan’ thingy.
And from the perspective of someone who totally didn’t know olga and gola were in fact the same person, this might seem like Gola left a chunk of her persona in her niece before her death. (Which in a certain sense is accurate) That exists independently of her niece without her knowing
Well, I don’t think the Gola persona has all of Gola’s old memories, else she would appear as her much older self… Even barring that, Twilight made it very clear that the de-aging process physically robbed Gola of all her post-34 memories… Would have robbed her of more had Twilight not fortified them with the Butterfly technique. The neural pathways laid past 34 have literally been erased, so there’s no going back for Gola.
As for why Olga didn’t realize what the white trails were… Well, I think two things are going on there. One, the reversal of her brain to an adolescent state causes her to act before thinking, overriding the warnings her experience would otherwise give her. The Olga astral form maintains that limitation I’m guessing. The second thing that’s going on is disorientation from the personality shift, leading her to not think clearly.
Of course, it’s also entirely possible that in astral form, the Gola and Olga personalities are completely separate, such that the Olgs personality has no memories apart from her time at Magellan, and the Gola personality remembers everything up to 34, but nothing past that.
Drat, I popped back to page 6.81 for a possible clue on what Fatima’s nightmare was but its a nogo. I’m guessing it is related to being hunted by the underwater Queen for leaving her people to live on Dry Land. Also it occurred to me why Lin-Lin and TMWC got knocked out. The were close enough for the hack and they were maintaining position. I’m betting Lin-Lin was stationary…not maintaining a position relative to the Locke Island. So as they were talking the Island over took them and brought them into rang of the force. As more people are snared the range of the capture zone will grow and Vlax or whom ever the cause is will get more power. I’m guessing Vlax triggered by what ever being/creature is causing Montana Rose to wig-out.
Mavrick may be able to break Olga free by jumping at her and knocking her loose. the equivalent to using a wooden pole to knock a shock victim away from an electrical source. though with electricity it is much better to shut off the source.
This. The contrast between Gola & Olga is striking. Gola immediately accepted Maverick as an equal, which turned Kaycee’s Mary Sue-ishness up to eleven, but now that she’s reverted to Olga, they’re suddenly just these two girls and they have to solve a problem.
I find the responses to this amusing, since “man in black” leaves the exact same post on multiple pages of different comics I read (including this one). I have a suspicion he’s a bot, though I’m not sure why someone would bother. There’s nothing like going through several comment threads where the only comment is the same “great page” comment, page after page after page.
man in black just has an economy with words. Back when Drunk Duck allowed ratings to be given to pages I seem to remember man in black (and many others) left only a ranking (always a 5) and no comment. I guess in a way it’s his acknowledgement for my work (and the work of others) which is certainly appreciated by me… it’s always great to be acknowledged!
interesting development. if i had to guess, i’d guess that when she was gola she was in a war zone mentality, while as olga she was in a civilian mindset. she went from being on edge, as if she was under attack(which she is) to simply being in a strange place.

poor kaycee. alone surrounded by chekhov guns. and one has already claimed the only person who may have a clue about the situation.

Whoops.
So, to get Olga out of best friend, Kaycee has to go into her friend’s nightmare and probably end up getting them both out of catatonia. Go Maverick!
great page

I hope Kaycee doesn’t normally rank too highly on the Mary-Sue meter…!

aww can’t wait for the next pages already!
I think the Whiskey just did a Tango Foxtrot
charisma’s precarious position notwithstanding, it’s better than a tango uniform.
military humor, whiskey is W, tango is T, and foxtrot is F.
yeah, see also charley foxtrot and in this case, tango uniform (=dead, what the initials stand for is an exercise for the class.)
