On one hand, it is terrible that you’ve had such problems with the mechanics of the comic.
On the other, rereading them has only deepened my appreciation for your skill.
It’s some kind of 500 error. For some reason the server isn’t coping with the load. The webhost has been singularly unhelpful, told me I needed someone to fix the database config. That’s the next step.
I believe there is (now) more than one problem in that config. I get error 500 a lot more frequently since the last rebuild, but also more frequently than before in the last couple months leading up to the rebuild. And I say more frequently since I’ve “always” seen this but quite rarely – maybe on one in a few hundred page loads. I think, not sure, that it used to happen most frequently (still rarely) when trying to load any page on the site very close to comic upload time. That fits with the problem somehow being related to server load, on the other hand I have once or twice seen an error page explicitly indicating an overload problem.
I’d like to help but I don’t think I know the database system.
I got a server error when I tried to go back a comic from http://magellanverse.com/comic/class/
Posting here because this is the current page as of when I found the problem
Seems OK now. There’s some annoying crap going on with the server, definitely need to shell out to get it fixed because I have no idea.

I get problems too while naivgating, but if I refresh the page loads. Seems to be more of a delay rather than a broken link or something…
