…Matter 45
Update schedule: This is the Sunday update, there was an extra new page loaded yesterday so please click “previous” to read.
Back in action: OK, I’ve now uploaded the majority of content (BTW, that’s well over 1,000 pages). The bugs are still not 100% gone but hopefully the site is a bit better behaved this week. Ugh. It has been a bittersweet process, on one hand I really enjoyed reviewing the old content, on the other it was a pain in the butt. Anyway, hallelujah! Go!Anna/Annie finally gets to take on the serial killer she’s been hunting…
Next update: Wednesday July 17, 2019: That’s right, a Wednesday update!
The ghost of John Wayne Gacy rears its greasepainted head…
Yay! Welcome back!
Glad you’re back!
Might interest you to know that the issue which caused this is an example of a failure of “non-repudiation of published data”, which includes meta-data, like the URLs of web pages… This might strike you as a bit of an extreme view, but it’s about making the web less fragile, and a trusted source of data, longer term… Which the (current) tools often make really difficult for content publishers…
Main thing is Go!Anna looks to be (just) in time.
You might have to point me in the direction of some reading on that!!
Welcome back! … I’m saying as someone who follows RSS and therefore didn’t saw when the previous page actually got online.
Hooray!
Yay! Good to see the comic back in working order!
Does Brunton have an accomplice?? That shovel was clearly behind Go!Anna and Brunton in front of her. But there wasn’t any accomplice mentioned before. Does he have a power? I thought Go!Anna mentioned that Brunton was just an average psycho without special abilities back when she chewed out Kaycee for deciding to become a hero when she doesn’t have powers.
Or maybe… It’s Melnik. We know that Zelda is a legit psychic, so he did get there, just slower. And now that he’s arrived and seen the situation he still thinks Go!Anna is involved in the kidnapping?
Wednesday cannot come soon enough…
Upon rereading the last few pages… the clues seems to point toward Bruton actually having an accomplice. He changed his modus operandi, and he selected two victims this time. Two victims for two killers. And the new accomplice brought in skills that allowed them to kidnap their victims without getting caught.
Then again maybe he changed how he does thing because he failed to grab his previous victim, leading to a longer gap than usual between murders and him taking two victims this time to compensate for the missed one…
Or maybe he recruited his previous victim? How would that happen? Or maybe it’s just that this victim wasn’t found… because their only relative is the one he recruited?
Ugh. I can’t wait for Wednesday…
🤐😉
So grateful to see you back with a huge dump of old material Grace! I was getting a little worried😅 Now we are just missing Hero, Stairway, The Tales, most of the Magellan stuff, and the old comments (Gosh! It sure sounds like a lot when it’s written out like that 😕) About the comments: I noticed, after you mentioned the Wayback Archive to me, that the old pages still have the comments linked to them. Could that be of help, somehow?
Go!Anna is getting hit from behind, so I also assumed there was an accomplice of sorts.
If it was Melnik, acting as a cop considering Go!Anna a suspect, he’d have gone all police procedure on her, yelling at her to freeze while pointing his weapon at her. No, either Brunton has an accomplice or he’s got telekinetic powers. Melnik could be the accomplice though…
While it would explain Melnik’s absence in the present time line, Bugle read his mind to get his password. If Melnik was working with the killer, Bugle would have known that as well, and I don’t see any reason why he would not tell Go!Anna.
Plus, Go!Anna left the police station at the same time as Melnik did, and she used Wombatman’s shortcuts that she was convinced made her faster than a Dianna in a police vehicle. So Melnik would have not only had to ditch all the other cops with whom he was following Zelda’s alleged lead, but then race all the way here in record time. It just doesn’t seem plausible unless he has superpowers himself.
Nice to be back on schedule now,eh!?
Very nice to be back to the current story! Great work, Grace! 🙂
You asked us to keep an eye out for the 500 error. It happened to me just now as I navigated to this page from the previous one. So we’re not rid of it completely, but I can’t speak to it’s frequency, for now. Might do some re-reading tomorrow and keep track.
Great news to see some activity back here – right on time for the plot that sparked it all (for Kaycee at least, that is)
So, now that everything is back up and running. Id like to point out an issue that I have reserved to mention for last few months as you were doing a lot of work already.

oops! Thanks for mentioning!!
This page and the “major progress” blog post reached my RSS reader last night. The latest page hasn’t yet, but I expect it’ll catch up now it’s working. Hurrah!
No problem, as I said I noticed it quite a few months ago, but it was a minor thing not worth mentioning until such time as you got the major issues squared away 🙂
