Best wishes, and I would say without powers makes Kaycee potentially more effective, either her opponents underestimate her, or she has them second guessing
She also doesn’t have a “crutch.” I mean, think about it: all the other supers rely on their powers. If they are stuck in a situation outside what they can do with their powers, how many are at a loss? Kaycee, with no powers, doesn’t have that weakness.
But really, that sentiment can also apply to simple skills someone has. People are used to working with whatever they’re good at doing (the “if all you have is a hammer” situation). Powers are just a greater depiction of skill, but Kaycee does rely on her determinism and drive, as well as her own physical capabilities as they are in the moment. It can come back to bite her when she is stuck in a situation that may compromise one of those, such as in the Evil Weevil training mission. She usually is so focused on what her task is, that it seems (at least up to that point) she has no way to react when that focus is pulled and she falls into her trauma.
Magellan Academy training would probably leave this world’s heroes better off than most, since it works to polish powers but also provides standardised training.
Grace, wishing your father a speedy recovery towards the good side of things. I went through the other side with my mom, so I can empathize with what you are going through.
Someone from 6 weeks into the future is the only one with a surefire answer. I wish they could come bringing good news already but I haven’t even started on a time machine yet… also Stephen Hawkings party with no visitors is a very good indication it just isn’t possible.
I wish you and your family the best outcome possible. Take care of each other!
The fact that you write the story, do all the artwork (character and scenery), and all the coloring yourself with all the other commitments you have continues to amaze me. Thank you for sharing your talents, and best wishes for your father
The coloring really helped this page! The linework by itself left me feeling a bit confused, but the colors helped bring out the panes of glass, and the weary, grief-stricken look in Mrs. Jones’ face. Why the sudden change in Kaycee’s expression? She’d been livelier in her other depictions after p50, but in this last panel she suddenly looks “dead-eyed”, almost like mind-controlled. Is it a steely resolve (precursive to the drive that makes her effective despite her lack of powers)?
“Go!Anna funny feet and a big tail – if that is a power Nikki Minaj is a super heroine too – wait until i grow, I’ll have a humongous booty and save the world with it!”
I think that Grace tends to draw most of the women with pretty normal proportions for their ages and exercise levels. Mind you, with how fast Nadine is running these days, she should have no fat reserves left. A live-action version of Magellan Academy would not be left with a case of A Big Bra to Fill.
Some comic book breasts and chests can be noticeably disproportionate to reality. I mean, sure if the excuse is a mutation of sorts (eg Hulk) then go to town, but usually its just a case of titillation (pun intended) or roid fantasy gone wrong!
Oh! Another bug I caught before, but maybe forgot to report (my bad 😞) – In ‘The story so far’ links, the Redux: Gola Beh link is pointing to Lockedown 😬
Happy to hear from you, and all the best wished to you and your family! I dearly hope everything goes as well as possible!
Regards & best wishes to you and your family.
That was a quick emotional roller coaster.

Best of luck to your family.

I also wish to express my well-wishes to your father, Grace. I hope he has a quick recovery, to prove the pessimistic doctors wrong.
Ms. Grace: I hope everything goes well for your father.
Re. the comic: You’re right, Kaycee. You don’t.
