   Pray: verbal entreating of a deity.
   Prey: preditory behaviour. Kill to consume or become a parasite on. Think birds of prey, like eagles and hawks.

   Affect: usually a verb
   Effect: usually a noun
   The effect of the explosion was spectacular, but only the people close by were really affected.
