Doing a “rescue”…: Rochelle, Sioni and Olga have stumbled across the Euro Jet (well, it literally fell out of the sky)… lucky for Kaycee and Charisma. Vale, Phlache. 🙁
If the crashed jet, and Kaycee’s and Charisma’s injuries look familiar, that’s because we’ve seen them all in pages 7.08-09.

You kill so many… I’m not sure what to think. But damn is it dire.
This arc started with the world blowing up. Pretty sure the time jumping cadet is going to unlock some huge burst of power to undo it all.
Theory is that black hole mess with time, so if she uses her power at the right time she could go back much further than a minute.
It’s very likely the world blowing up will be reverted. However, there is still risk not everything will be reverted …
The Earth imploded more than exploded, due to the black hole being put near the middle of it. Still, either way, that is very hard to survive.
Unless Grace’s schedule leaves us with a Codename Eternity ending 😀
With the exception of some foot soldiers the Rarg casualties have been comparatively light. Too many people are dying due to emotions getting the better of them. I expect that of the cadets, but not the graduates.
I’ve been getting the impression that the Magellan world has had such success with academy-trained Metas for so many decades now, that it’s really created an ever-mounting hubris, which is passed on from generation to generation.
ie: X was the best hero of their time, and they trained and graduated Cadet Y, who then believes THEY are “all that and a bag of chips/crisps,” and their own success in hero’ing reinforces that confidence, and then Y trains Z and repeats the process.
Ultimately, the system of training heroes at a singular academy reinforces a mentality of superiority. I think the fact that Go!Anna is one of the surviving heroes right now kind of illustrates that being outside the system gives one the kind of perspective necessary to really reach their full potential.
We’ll have to see if Grace has written that subtext intentionally, or if I’m just reading in to things too much.
Those are some good thoughts that I had not had yet. Now that I have them though… they are good. 😀 I mean, I fully agree, this seems to be happening. On the other hand I don’t think I picked that up.
I can see one option if the gang can stop the Rarg from creating a black hole. A few dozen people are sitting in the amphitheatre, shown with lots of damage, where a few years ago Tom Bass commemorated the loses of Bad Karma ( See http://magellanverse.com/comic/parole/ ). Go!Anna is standing at the podium.
Go!Anna: [ looking out on mostly empty seats and whole sections destroyed ] A couple of years ago, many of us were here under similar circumstances, to commemorate our fallen and our heroes, in an attack that seemed so devastating at the time. Looking back on those days and looking at this week, that was but a small skirmish, while this was a war, which thankfully, we won, bug at what cost? You are being trained to capture criminals, not as warriors, but we all handled things with honour and integrity. We stopped our attackers this time, but we lost so many in the process. Some of us think that the Rarg were about to unleash a weapon that could have destroyed the world, had we not managed to defeat them when we did.
Go!Anna: I look at the devastation around us and I think of how we could let this be the end of us, the end of Magellan’s dream, but then I look the people around me and I realize we will rebuild and be better than ever! We will rebuild our lives, our facility, our membership, our mission. Magellan will be back as a power for justice in this world! We will grow from our current weakness, but we will be stronger than ever! I am the only survivor of Team Magellan, but I look around me at the people who will fill the ranks in the years to come, serving with honour, pride and integrity in the on-going mission of justice around the world.
Go!Anna: It is with heavy hearts, we commemorate our fallen dead, who paid with their lives, many never having seen their attackers and others who died so that others could live.
Hey! Where is Brelvis in this picture?
We’ll find out in several more pages… 🙂
