View from the battlefield…: Go!Anna gets a view of the battlefield, and it ain’t pretty… hard not to get a bit bummed out drawing this page, which is why I didn’t really focus on the who, and how, of the deceased.
Working this page took a lot longer to pull together than expected… not just the art but the script as well. The original dialogue went through a few revisions before I got it where I felt it had the right purpose and flow.
Anyway, Go!Anna is almost at the point where we found her on page 7.08 at the start of this story.
Another late page, thanks for hanging in there. Everything was going so well schedule wise and production wise, until I got sick for several days in the middle of last week… not COVID but something that saw me horizontal for two whole days. Anyway, I’m better now and back into it now.
Patrons: Over on Patreon page 125 is now up – page 126… by Saturday…
Next update: Sunday September 19, 2021: Under the rubble…
Hello darkness 😕
I read that as “Litter massacre” at first…
A litter of corpses.
At least they didn’t kill off “clint”…
Just at first? I needed three tries to realize it’s not “Litter” …
When I reread it I thought I’d made a typo! Then I realised it’s just the font, admittedly a bit of an issue.
I’ve stumbled on this exact font issue, both ways, so many times already that I don’t stumble anymore – I immediately consider both “u” and “li” and choose whichever is most appropriate. In another decade I might be able to do it subconsciously.
The explosion is getting closer … and Ambrosia still doesn’t really know anything usable for preventing the invasion.
Yeah, it’s the anticipation of how exactly everything is going to be set right that keeps everyone on their toes…
then Grace comes in with ” And everybody died. The End.” and goes back to nudist colony comics.
🙃
Heehee…
Magellan alt-universe where everyone is a nudist?
Well… there is the Fast Club…
Horizontal for two whole days, and not in the good way. Not fun.
lol – exactly.
Why do I have the feeling that some of this goes back to the space station and the former Magellan employees?
It does – at the very least, it’s where the Rarg got the wormhole technology that allowed them to appear in the sky over Magellan without warning. Also, they’re why Magellan was targeted by the Rarg in the first place. It’s also conjectured that the Rarg got power nullification tech from the scientists aboard Prometheus’ Jovian station, which wouldn’t have been there without those two’s help.
Now, if by ‘goes back’, you mean “will Ambrosia go back to stop those two in particular”, that may be too far even for her ability. They left Magellan three years ago (I think?), when Magellan was already dealing with time-travelling mumbo-jumbo of its own. Also, that would tinker with, like, three of Magellan’s big story arcs, and that would suck.
More likely, she will go back to earlier this storyline, and warn Magellan of Prometheus’ impending wornhole experiment. If they can stop them from flipping the switch, the Rarg will remain ignorant both of Magellan and of Prometheus’ technologies until their “prophesied” encounter with the Reds in the future.
Of course, I still wonder how far Ambrosia can be trusted. If she is an agent for the Master Assassin, who knows how he’ll make use of knowledge of (one possible) future?
Of course if the singularity super charges her enough to bring in others…
not sure about Paz being a Character Assassin, might be easier to get someone in faculty
If he were trying to gain access to Force Magellan’s secrets, you’d probably be right. However, since Lock(e)down, I think his intent is to learn more about the _students themselves_, so a faculty member would be less useful than a fellow student would be.
Remember, the Master Assassin’s main power here is his Genre Savvy. He’s trying to get a lock on who the Main Character of this ‘ridiculous story’ is. I think he’s starting to realize the story may be a Coming Of Age arc – if so, the MC will dwell among the student body.
“If she is an agent for the Master Assassin,”
Haven’t seen that theory yet, what’s the reasoning behind it?
That’s a good question that I don’t mind trying to handle 😁
You don’t need a lot of background on Master Assassin, but you need to be familiar with the end of the Lockedown arc, specifically pp344-345. Kruger does not have any known metahuman ability but does possess a brilliant mind with a talent for planning. Despite the measures taken by Locke Island security, it seems likely he is STILL able to communicate with his followers who remain at large. We know that notwithstanding his distaste for metahumans in general, he is quite willing to recruit them as a counter to to those opposed to his violent actions. Given his remarked desire on p 6.345 to have an agent placed in the Magellan Academy, and given the difficulty in getting a vetted faculty member to fill that role (staff members would presumably be easier, but would also have less access), the most direct and simple route for MA’s group to take would be to recruit a promising young metahuman that looks likely to be accepted into the Academy and have them act as their spy (we’ll have to trust that they have the wherewithal to communicate secretly with their ‘agent’). Since it’s apparent that no such agent is in place during Kaycee’s class’ 2nd year, the assumption is that such an agent COULD be a member of the current First year class. Ambrosia stands out as a potential candidate in that role for a couple of reasons – Her potential ‘trump’ power makes identifying her as a spy difficult; and her “carefully guarded mind”, as referenced by Olga on p41 of this story, makes outing her intentions telepathically less likely, as ethical telepaths will not deep probe minds without reason, so the greatest danger *to a spy* is in letting your intentions slip out through unguarded thoughts.
Good summary 🙂
