My if you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail analysis of the spacecraft, along with attempts at electrical and brick force against it last time,
propose a vulnerability to magic, once you get though it’s electro-magnetic defense field.
We happen to have a Mistress of Magnetism(Sun Moon), and 3 casters protected, and I wonder if any of them can perform the metal to Mercury transmutation that Chang had done in first year. Other hexes like Jafari’s could likely tear though Rarg Armor like tissue paper, but perhaps also though ship hull.
Interesting that neither the voice communication nor the portal seem to be affected by the speed of light.

Knowing RB, he probably activated the orb right after he said to put it down, not allowing for lightspeed delay. The portal then opened only a couple of seconds after Go heard to put it down.
I think you must be right. We even hear him doing it: “I’ll activate it from this side…”

Nah, that was just an indication of a shaky connection. Note when Hierophant was talking the same occurred, as well as the that was also heard when Ranger Bill was talking. We do see it already starting to glow when Go!Anna sets it down; maybe RB’s activation was more like setting it to open once it detected it had been set down. Or Force Magellan has comms that aren’t restricted by the speed of light – the presence of aliens like everyone’s favorite space cucumber Vostok (and the Rarg/Xnarnaxl, for that matter) implies the speed of light can be overcome in this setting, after all.
Or the author just decided the delay was small enough to ignore, which seems to be the case here.
After “researching” (ie Googling) ‘communication time with the moon’ I decided to cut the difference ⏰⏰⏰😁😁😁
Given that they have technology that allows them to just step from Earth to Moon and back in an instant, it would be somewhat strange that their comms would suffer from lag but not transportation. Though I suppose Bill DID say his nanobots were imitating soviet tech, so it might not be widespread to other applications?
Actually thinking about it, it’s probably not spread at all given how they still fly around in jets.
