PaRARGdox 191
What goes up levitates… must come down…: The Rarg’s plans of world annihilation are about to come crashing down…
“Aggro”: For anyone wondering, this is Australian slang for aggressive… we like shortening words and putting ‘o’ (or some other vowel) on the end of them.
19 years old!: The first page of Magellan was published online on March 7, 2004… which means this several thousand pages long webcomic is now 19! If you’ve been reading since then, or at least early 2004… wooo, congrats!!! And thanks to everyone for reading! 😀
Patrons: Page 7.195 is now up on Patreon… 7.196 published soon…
Next update: March 19, 2023: He’s not heavy, he’s my brother flying saucer…
I do hope that they have passed on Rochelle’s can-opener technique.
Heh heh, anytime I see “Aggro” my mind immediately goes to that risque, 4th wall breaking, female co-host tormenting, pile of carpet offcuts. Fun for young and old.
Say what you would about Punchin’ Judy – she’s enthusiastic about melee combat!
I think that is mostly because she can do it so well, with her super-human strength and durability. I get the feeling that a normal protagonist/attacker would not be able to do much to her.
Mugger: [Pulls a knife] Hey there, lady. Give me your purse!
Judy: No.
Mugger: I got this knife, girly.
Judy: Did you just call me girl? I haven’t been a girl for years now.
Mugger: Quit yammering and give me your purse!
Judy: No.
Mugger: Fine! I’ll take it off your corpse! [ Stabs her in the belly with his knife. It twists off to the side. She grabs his wrist. ] Yeagg! Leggo! [ Tries to pull his hand free of her grip, dropping the knife in the process. ]
Judy: No. You are under citizen’s arrest for assault with a (barely) deadly weapon and damaging private property (my favourite blouse). The police will inform you of your rights when we get to the police station. [ She picks up the knife by its damaged tip and drops it into a plastic bag she pulled from her purse and starts to drag the man towards the local police station ]
Reference Mugging the Monster, especially the tale of “Sir Trude Lacklandia”.
lol – you forgot the bit where she punches them into next week 😀
Super-Hero Landing!”
It’s hell on the knees.
Not really Judy’s style, but that was a missed opportunity to do the Black Widow “Pose” 😂
Could be doing the Selene landing from the beginning of Underworld.
I’ve only seen part of that film and not the intro, but I pulled it up on YouTube. Yeah, Judy’s landing looks like it could segue into that.
Pretty cool landing, slams into the ground, stands up and walks it off.
Makes the point that vamps are really tough.
Aww, li’l Epoch wants to fight with her Dad – so wholesome!
Agro it’s already pretty common in the gaming community. It refers to the moment when a mob (moving object, ie.the bad guys) goes from Patrol mode to Attack mode
I’m American but have definitely heard “aggro” before… guess the Internet has helped some terms cross the pond
Thanks to Steve Irwin a lot of people are familiar with Australian slang. Man was a heck of a cultural ambassador to animals far and wide.
“Aggro” is also a term used by computer gamers, which means pretty much what you think it does.
Congrats on 19 years!
I have not been reading that long. I must have started at the earliest in 2006, at the latest in 2008, it was somewhere during Bad Karma. 15 years if not yet then quite soon.
Yeah, 2006 for me. It was July 25th 🙂 I remember it well because I wrote about it on another forum that I frequent. I still get a little bleary-eyed when I re-read those pages from the beginning of Chapter 4.
I’d count taking down the rarg saucer a pretty big bonus myself. I doubt it would be doing less damage to Magellan personel if it remained operational.
Congratulations on the 19 years. I wasn’t there from the start, but I was there during Bad Karma.
Aggro is also slang on mmorpgs, having to do with when and why a mob will attack your party. “Don’t aggro that rarg mob, you noob, or they’ll swarm all over us.” “Rarg are permanently aggro’d, genius.”
I’m probably getting the mmorpg usage all wrong, though.
Congratulations. I think I’ve been following since the beginning, just don’t post much.
Belated happy anniversary! I think I tuned in towards the end of Gifford: Hero or just at the beginning of Buying The Stairway To Heaven, though my memory isn’t that great considering I’ve been reading for so long. Amazing to see it still running on such a regular basis when so many webcomics have just stopped in the middle of a story one day and never ever update again, living the story in limbo forever.
I came here from your Koala Bay comic. Can’t believe it’s been that long. Congratulations on such a milestone.
