What are the benefits working at Magellan Island? Seems like the kind of place that should provided at least 4 months paid vacation, hazard pay, medical, dental, optics and hearing, psyche, massage, physio, food and housing . . . at a bare minimum.
Ditto for the guards on Locke Island. With the amount of death, permanent injury, maimings, trauma, PTSD, and all the other horrible things they have to deal with, they’d need quite the incentive to keep working for the superhero community.
