I don’t know if it was Grace’s intent, but I got the impression that the narrative of the dream was shaped by Wang’s hopes and fears in the moment, and those in turn were being coached by the nightmare-scape and real-Epoch. As such, real-Epoch’s choice to call the nightmare version of himself “Roid-poch” seems to have had a tangible effect on how Wang viewed the nightmare; literally making the dopple’s eyes and face red with rage.
