Q'Arth design: Why did I make the Q'Arth look like flying ten-eyed demons with half their body missing, their guts dripping from their abdomen and their exposed spine/tail acting as life-force syphoning stinger? At the time (2004) I was scribbling down some ideas, I wanted something truly terrifying, but most of my drafts were pretty pedestrian. And so, to amp up the nightmare factor I just chopped one design in half and added extra eyes and a barbed spine stinger. Mission accomplished.
