Another very quick tour of Magellan Island here, we've seen some of these areas previously in other stories. Notably, the red cliffs were first seen in Lock(e)down during a training exercise. Most of the island is deliberately left uninhabited although large swathes of it is used for specific training exercises - sometimes in open natural environments, sometimes in purpose built structures dotted around.
Panel 2, in particular, is intended to give a sense of scale... the beacons are 1,000 meters (1 km/0.6miles) apart - so that stretch of cliff coastline is fairly extensive.
