i sent you an email about the strips of dr spooky and otto not being all online, but you ignored me 🙁
Yes, sorry about that. I do remember receiving it, I did mean to reply but then got sidetracked and forgot to get back to it. Happens to me a fair bit! I want to finish that story too… stay tuned for details. 🙂
Question – where can one find the strip 37 of dr spooky and otto comic? There seems to be no link info in the voting incentive page.
It’s to the upper right of the page… Dr Spooky & Otto
p37 at upper right?! Really not seeing it, at upper right of the link you gave me i see p6 at most.
The strips page has only those up to p32, while the vote incentive gives links from p33 to p36. p37 seems to be nowhere to be found…
must suck to be just a vessel for another being.
A lot of religious people throught history have intentionally tried to become a vessel for another being.
I say this because it raises interesting thoughts about Ravi’s views. I’m guessing he is religious – because one good conversatoin with Shakti or just having proof she exists is a good reason to convert.
But I also guess he was a typical modern agnostic or the Hindu equivilent of a Christmass and Easter christian before he got his powers. Hence why he’s not completely comfortable with being a vessel.
There are certainly some interesting questions and possibilities raised by both Ravi and Shakti. Don’t know how many of them will get answered in this story but that leaves room for exploration at another point.
Thinking a little more about this. I wonder how many of Shakti’s classmates are / have converted to Hinduism?
That could be akward for Ravi.
she isn’t the first god to be manifest. given the amount of super beings and given that there are a few gods in the mix i would guess it means less in the magellanverse then in ours. i am sure that some that may be looking for faith may be inspired, or one who is unsure will see it as a sign though. hopefully when that happens shakti’s followers will consider him chosen or something and treat him well as well (doesn’t always work that way).
So Ravi doesn’t just change his body but is also possessed or replaced by an avatar of Shakti.
No wonder he seems reluctant to “power up”. Even if he is religious that has to be uncomfortable.
BTW. Just how powerful is the avatar of Shakti? I’m guessing pretty powerful, she is arguably Magellan’s Thor or Magellan’s Captain Marvel.
Depends on how one’s religion would or not see such an incident – it bears mentioning, in some faiths becoming the vessel or “horse” of an entity IS the expected form contact, guidance or interaction…
If there was a meeting between Shakti and Yuuki, how would that conversation turn out?
Yukki: Look, Ravi, is it? I think you asking me out is cute and all, but, well, I am just not into guys right now. Besides, I have other priorities right now.
Loki: Hey, quit chatting with this jerk and let’s get back to the mission.
Ravi: Did your doll just talk?
Yukki: Yeah, about that. This is Loki, Norse god of being a jerk!
Loki: Errk!
Ravi: Just because he is a jerk does not mean that you should be strangling him. Um do you know the big guy there?
Yukki: Yeah, that is Thor, god of thunder and my physical trainer.
Ravi: You have met your actual gods?
Yukki: Well, they weren’t at first. I was following Shinto before these guys came into my life. What about your beliefs?
Ravi: Well, it might be easier to just show you.
🙂
How would Ravi/Shakti look as rendered by Yuuki’s creator Kittyhawk?
Absolutely gorgeous, no doubt about it!
So, Shazam with a sex change? It looks like this comes with a big personality change as well. Or is this closer to Doctor Don Blake striking his staff on the ground and transforming into The Mighty Thor? How much of her actions can he remember? How much can he influence?
Curse that convenient cloth in panel 2! Curse it! Curse it!! CURSE IT!!! 😛
At least Psiot was respectful to Shakti
given that during the transformation she was in energy form there might not be any nipples and such anyway (though it does look like one is peeking out behind the pattern in the cloth).
hah, well it wasn’t intentional. Could be a trick of the light… 🙂
Well, the looks Ravi gets from his still-not-grown-up classmates, i understand he´s reluctant (and i guess he also must endure some pubescent jokes about that gender change when in the boys showerroom).
Probably a true goddess is above concerns about beardless boys peeking at her divine, well, body parts, but for her human host…
Bless the trick of the light to ensure that we readers can concentrate on her holiness 🙂
I’m sure the straight lads and gay girls are more than happy to feast their eyes upon her holy divinity!
Have seen enough Sailor Moon to know how that sort of thing works 😛
And a plan pretty quickly
hmmm, her breasts are bigger in panel 3 vs. 2.
You still need to think of it as a physical metamorphosis… a male body transforming into a female body some things get bigger, other “things”…um…invertier. 🙂
makes perfect sense. i imagine her hair is still growing out in panel 2, i always pictured her with longer hair than that. given that she is a goddess of fertility i imagine that her parts all work (just a goddess of beauty would probably stop at AIS level of conversion – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androgen_insensitivity_syndrome), which means more changes in the lower half than just looks. which fits for what is drawn (lower half seems complete while upper half still changing).
She’s 200% woman! 🙂
Did Shakti just called Psiot a mortal? Unless he IS one?
Given Psiot’s father passed away recently I don’t think he’s been gifted with eternal life. 🙂
immortal dose not always mean you can’t die many times it simply means you can’t die of old age but can still die of injury or illness and other times it means you can never be killed by illness or injury but can still die of old age in which case its better to call them indestructible but immortal gets used as an umbrella term a lot of both, also its possible psiot has a longer than normal life span due to magic so he would still be mortal but very very old.
So it would appear that, despite not being a telepath, Psiot knows something about telepathy nonetheless?
its possible he has a form of magic based telepathic powers rather than naturally born with ones or at least has had enough contact with telepaths to have a good grasp on telepathic powers
just one thing i would like to mention for some of the people who are wondering what shakti’s powers are.
shakti in Hinduism is seen in different ways depending on the sect of Hinduism the most common is that she is the supreme representation of female creative forces and all other hindu mother goddesses come from her, like wise she is considered a form of the ultimate female goddess, the thing with hinduism is that its complicated given that many of his gods and goddesses are not individual gods like norse or greek gods but are aspects and forms of other gods and yet they are sometimes also birthed by the others even by them selves since the hindu faith has one supreme being who is then represented by two beings who are the supreme male and the supreme female aspects and then they divide again and again for varying aspects sometimes even joining to form herm gods, it is possible shakti can turn in to her other forms or the powers she represents depending on the line of Hinduism this comic’s shakti is based on that could mean she can turn in to shiva or even durga or a few other warrior gods/goddesses, or a few of the creative forces able to give life or create life.
oh just a side note shakti is also considered the representation of a force of energy involving the chakra points in the body in some groups that deal with chakra
