Had a mega scary and freaky day yesterday as my Mac decided to have a super meltdown. Basically I had to erase the disc and restore.
Fortunately I had a very recent back-up from the night before and only lost an hour of work on Magellan, instead of 16+ years of that and man, many other things.
Everything seems OK now, hopefully it stays that way. A seriously stressful day!

Ooops! I made another eBook! I’ve decided to call the collected stories volumes rather than chapters… and now we have Volume 2: The Great Leap Forward, which includes that eponymous chapter from the online series, plus the third chapter Daze, collected into an ebook with some additional artwork and notes. It’s on Issuu.com which has a good reading interface.
This volume picks up weeks from the previous one. Kaycee Jones is finding her place as a first year cadet at Magellan Academy, training with cephalomaid Fatima as they both prepare for, and then run, The Gauntlet against all their fellow cadets. Meanwhile, Sydney based superheroine Go!Anna is on the hunt for a stolen artefact and has her fair share of close calls. Plus, Brelvis – the Brian/Elvis-the-dog hybrid – is finding his way in the world!
If Volume 1: Wannabe is the opening shot, Volume 2: The Great Leap Forward is we kick things up a notch. Oh, and, there’s a double page bonus art pic right near the end you may not have seen before.

Ooops! I made an eBook! This is something I’ve been working on for a while… Chapter 1: Wannabe, plus A Brief History of The Magellanverse, collected into an ebook with some additional artwork and notes.
If you find it tedious to click through previous/next buttons and the general pain in the butt nature of web navigation… hey, this should solve it for you! I chose to publish on Issuu because they give a very nice reading experience, with double page spreads and page turning.
And yes, I will be following this up with other chapters and shorts, finding the mental and creative space, plus the extra time required to put it all together has always been the main drag on the process. But this should give me enough momentum to continue.

Just a quick post to let you know I have finally (FINALLY) gotten around to re-uploading Buying the Stairway to Heaven which, like all the other pages, went offline following the site crash of 2019.
Long time readers will be familiar with this short crossover story, which originally ran in 2009 (yes, hard to believe). The story teams up Cadet Rochelle Kwan and Al Schroeder’s Mindmistress – with the story written between us from an idea by Al, and drawn by me. Both Rochelle and Mindmistress are the brainiest people in their respective comics, although MM surpasses Rochelle and visits the MagellanVerse as an “adjunct trainer” for Rochelle. In this instance, she brings along an uninvited hitchhiker!
I really enjoyed rereading this story – apologies to you all (and especially to Al!) for having it down for so long. (And yes, next I have to restore Gifford’s story.)

Our soviet heroes collide with destiny. I’m guessing many readers will have been expecting this moment… it pretty much syncs us up with the events in the History. Doesn’t make it any less tragic though!
Many thanks to everyone who has voted this last month… Magellan made it as high as #41 at one point during the last week of May, which I reckon is a sterling effort!
